Celebrate Year of Tiger with Chinese and Lunar New Year at Dim Sum House, The Fin and Hello Vietnam

Celebrate the Year of the Tiger with three Asian-owned businesses below celebrating Chinese New Year and/or Lunar New Year. Celebrations start as early as January 30 and run through mid-February. In University City and Rittenhouse, two of the largest Chinese restaurants, bars, lounges and event spaces in the city present a special menu of food and drink, plus two events with firecrackers, decorations and the traditional lion dance. Dim Sum House by Jane G's will celebrate starting January 30th through February 13th, with special events on February 5th. In Fishtown, The Fin celebrates its first-ever Lunar New Year and Lantern Festival on Valentine's Day Monday, February 14, 2022 with a special menu, an extensive list of special cocktails, a chance for prizes through the golden ticket cocktail, lanterns and decor and more. In Northern Liberties, Hello Vietnam presents complimentary tea, plus a free new themed appetizer, "Lucky Golden 'Tons" with every order .

Coney Shack Brings A Taste of Coney Island to University City

Coney Shack expands outside of New York City with the debut of their first out of market concept right here in Philadelphia. Chef, partner and founder Lawrence Mach teams up with Michael Tang of SET NoLibs to grand open Coney Shack at 3818 Chestnut Street this Friday, July 9th at 11:00am. Coney Shack started as a food cart in a parking lot of Coney Island back in 2013 and graduated to a food truck, a brick and mortar and then to a Times Square storage container pod-kitchen serving thousands of New Yorkers every week.

Owner Jackson Fu has seen increased demand and requests for more and more gluten-free and vegan selections and felt a special menu was an important next step for the University City restaurant.

This year, Dim Sum House by Jane G’s (3939 Chestnut St) brings their signature soup dumplings and all day dim sum by THREE executive chefs to the Dining Days program. Now, in its 13th year, Dining Days is the “3 courses, 3 prices” promotion at many of University City’s most popular dining destinations. Participating restaurants offer a pre-fixe three-course dinner special for $15, $25 or $35.

Dim Sum House Announces Grand Opening In University City This Wednesday

Jane Guo and Jackson Fu announce the grand opening of Dim Sum House by Jane G’s at 3939 Chestnut Street in University City this Wednesday, January 11, 2017. This expansive and stylish Old Shanghai inspired restaurant, bar and lounge features 6,000 square foot of space and will seat over 225 people in five unique dining spaces. Three talented chefs will show off their expertise in the kitchen with a menu that focuses on two authentic styles of Chinese dim sum (Shanghai and Cantonese), plus fried rice, noodles, chef specialties and familiar Chinese favorites. At the bar, look for a full line of spirits, 19 beers, 10 signature cocktails, and wine by the glass and bottle. The restaurant is located on the second floor, with the entrance found between 39th and 40th streets on Chestnut.

International House Philadelphia celebrates the exciting flavors, vibrant colors and rhythmic sounds of Brazil during the 53rd Global Gala: Colors of Brazil, on Saturday, May 17th, at 37th and Chestnut. In conjunction with the Gala, “From Rio to Brotherly Love” art exhibition open now through June. After the Gala, IHP hosts an outdoor Brazilian Barbeque with live music and a Capoeira Show on Saturday, June 14th.
