Philadelphia Theatre Company First Stop for World Premiere Where We Belong by Madeline Sayet

Philadelphia Theatre Company closes out its 47th season with the world premiere of an insightful new work that begins a national tour in the City of Brotherly Love. PTC is excited to launch the National Tour of Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company’s production of Where We Belong, in association with Folger Shakespeare Library. Performed by Mohegan theatre-maker Madeline Sayet, Where We Belong showcases an Indigenous theatre-maker’s journeys across geographic borders, personal history, and cultural legacies, in search of a place to belong. Mei Ann Teo directs this piece, which runs from April 15th to May 8th. Press Night is Tuesday, April 19th at 6:30pm. Media are also welcome to come on Opening Night, Wednesday, April 20th at 7:00pm. Tickets are on sale now starting at $35. PTC continues its 10Tix program, supported by PNC Arts Alive, providing a select number of seats at $10 for every performance. Free tickets are available to Indigenous Peoples in the region.

Philadelphia Theatre Company Announces 2021-2022 Season And A Return To The Suzanne Roberts Theatre

Philadelphia Theatre Company is ready to welcome audiences back into the Suzanne Roberts Theatre for the return of live, in-person theatre. The 2021-2022 season will feature two world premiere plays, a Tony Award-winning play with soaring gospel and R&B music, and a chance for audiences to reawaken their senses. The curtain rises again with The Garbologists by Lindsay Joelle, a Co-World Premiere with the City Theatre in Pittsburgh. The comedy runs November 11 to December 5, 2021. The season continues in the new year with Tarell Alvin McCraney’s NYC smash hit Choir Boy, set to run from February 18 to March 13, 2022. Choir Boy will be directed by PTC Resident Artist Jeffrey Page. The season concludes with the World Premiere of Madeline Sayet’s solo show, Where We Belong, from April 15 to May 8, 2022.

Philadelphia Theatre Company Presents New Virtual Play The Days Of Re-Creation

Philadelphia Theatre Company begins its 46th season with the rolling world premiere of The Days of Re-Creation: A Virtual Play on September 30, 2020 at 7:00pm. The play cycle (a collection of short plays around the same theme) is the brainchild of Devenand Janki, Artistic Director of the company Live & In Color, which commissioned seven prolific playwrights of color, including B.D. Wong (Tony award winning actor), Lauren Yee (Signature Theatre resident and writer of Cambodian Rock Band and The Big Leap), and Masi Asare (winner of the Billie Burke Ziegfeld Award), AriDy Nox, SEVAN, Nandita Shenoy, and Philadelphia playwright Erlina Ortiz, who contributed the play La Egoista. Directed by Rebecca Aparacio, the play features seven 10-minute plays relating to the seven days of creation from the Book of Genesis.

Philadelphia Theatre Company presents Play Brawl, the inventive fundraiser (originally scheduled for March 13th) that puts the region’s leaders front and center from their homes. In the vein of The Voice, PTC’s Play Brawl returns as a virtual event on Wednesday, July 1, as local community leaders live out their acting dreams, and a panel of “Ringside Refs” give post-performance feedback. The Ringside Refs include actors Graham Stevens, Juwan Crawley, and Sandy Rustin, who starred in PTC’s 2016 production of the new musical Found. Instead of standard speeches and silent auctions, the competitors will act their hearts out while viewers vote for the winning performance through tax-free donations.
